Also, from Puerto Limonao, especially during the summer, you can make lake excursions, navigating through lake Futalauquen, the Arrayanes River, and Lake Verde. Other attractions include Trevelin, Lake Rosario, the Futaleufú dam, and La Hoya, located only 13 kilometers from the city and which during the winter becomes the principal attraction for those who love skiing and snowboarding. La Hoya (meaning The Hole) is located in a type of hole, which protects it from the winds, and the southerly direction of the ski trails means that the snow remains dry without the sun's rays melting it, and therefore extending the season until October or November (when the northern hemisphere is in summertime, the southern hemisphere is in wintertime); for this reason, the people of Esquel can proudly say that they are the only ones who offer skiing in the springtime. Also within this magic we find the famous train La Trochita. It is a true moving museum, which travels to Ingeniero Jacobacci in Río Negro; the tourist ride lasts 3 hours until arriving to the Nahuel Pan station. |
